For several summers Victor was the resident artist on BC ferries “Queen of the North” In the past few years Victor has painted throughout Canada, France, Britain, California, Italy and Mexico. He is past president of the Victoria Sketch Club, an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists, an Associate of Canadian painters in Watercolour, a member of the Community Arts Council of Victoria, and a founding member of the Oak Bay Artists Society. |
For 35 years Victor Lotto served as a Canadian diplomat including assignments as Canadian Ambassador to Venezuela and the Dominican Republic and Canadian Consul General in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Vic always had his paints and brushes at each posting and a move to the University of Victoria as Adjunct Professor, International Business, afforded him more time to paint in both watercolour and acrylics. |
Victor has studied at the Ottawa School of Art and attended workshops with painters Tony Couch, Christopher Schink, Ken Campbell, Jack Reid and Harry Heine. He also studied with Aba Bayefsky while at University in Toronto. Victor’s paintings have been exhibited at the Department of Foreign Affairs, The Ottawa School of Art, the Source of Art in Ottawa, Hart House and Victoria College at the University of Toronto, Galerie Goodchild in Renaze France, the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria and the Eclectic and Polychrome galleries in Victoria He has had 5 solo shows and is a regular painter in “Paint Ins” at TD Moss Street. Bowker Creek and with the “Artigroup” on the lawn of the Empress Hotel. |
